DUTIES
The SBL Instructional Support faculty member will work closely with Director, Educator, faculty, course/program leaders, and SBL staff to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate evidence-informed simulation-based learning across programs within the School of Nursing.
The SBL Instructional Support (IS) faculty member will be integral in the development of Interprofessional Education (IPE) simulation learning experiences and the coordination of Standardized Patients to support simulation across all programs in the School of Nursing. In consultation with the SBL Educator, the IS faculty member will be involved with supporting faculty with the development of simulations including the required moulage and will work closely with the SBL personnel to achieve SBL Centre endorsement, and to support ongoing excellence in the use of SBL pedagogies.
The Instructor Support faculty member must be an excellent team member, be willing to mentor others, have strong communication skills, be highly organized, and have strong project management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Director and Educator on strategic planning and other initiatives to support the achievement of short, intermediate, and long-term goals of the SBL Centre
  • Collaborates with the Director and other SBL personnel to develop a plan for achieve SBL Centre accreditation
  • Participates in the collection of program evaluation data on learning outcomes for simulation-based learning
  • Initiates, manages, and evaluates IPE simulation within the School of Nursing, within programs, schools, and faculties within the university, and with practice partners.
  • Establishes, manages, and evaluates the Standardized Patient program
  • Collaborates with the SBL Educator to develop and review policies and procedures related to the moulage of mannikins
  • Collaborates with the SBL Educator to develop and support the orientation and onboarding of new faculty
  • Acts as an expert resource when collaborating with faculty to integrate simulation into the curricula across the range of programs offered in the School of Nursing
  • Demonstrates considerable knowledge of educational technologies and learning management systems
  • Demonstrates best practice standards when pre-briefing, facilitating, and debriefing simulations activities
  • Upholds best practice standards and current evidence in simulation, accreditation standards, patient safety, and team development.
  • Works effectively with SBL staff and faculty to foster a culture of excellence in SBL
  • Engages in scholarship activities to support the SBL Centre

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • PhD in nursing with an emphasis in simulation preferred
  • MN/MSN required
  • Holds a BCCNM RN practicing license
  • Current simulation CHSE certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in nursing SBL education with an emphasis on IPE and the use of Standardized Patients

Pay Band: $73,665.93 - $114,124.39 ( According to TRUFA Salary Schedule (Range TS01 - TS12) )
