Job Summary
The English department at UFV invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Postwar American fiction with a specialization in graphic literature and contemporary narrative forms. The English department is a vibrant, diverse, and student-centered department offering a range of courses with concentrations in Literature, Rhetoric, Drama, and Creative Writing. We offer a Minor and Extended Minor in English and in Creative Writing; Majors in all four concentrations; and Honours in English and in Creative Writing.

Qualifications
The successful candidate in this position will:

  • Have a PhD in literature and be asked to teach introductory courses in literature and academic writing as well as introductory, intermediate, and upper division courses in their area of specialization.
  • Evidence of scholarly achievement in research and writing as well as proof of undergraduate teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrate experience in technology-supported teaching (e.g. hybrid, online, and computer-assisted learning) and the ability to engage students in technology-enhanced learning, along with evidence of successful teaching in face-to-face classroom settings.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for working in team situations, a collaborative and respectful approach to engaging in department business, and a dedication to active service within the department, the College of Arts, and the university as a whole.
  • Commit to fostering a vibrant environment within our program and the broader community.

As a primarily teaching-oriented institution and department, we are seeking a collegial and energetic individual who has successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level and who communicates effectively with students; is strongly committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in and out of the classroom; is qualified to instruct across a range of the undergraduate courses offered by the department; and can develop new and innovative courses. We are committed to supporting and engaging international students and the diverse classroom population at UFV. Candidates will be expected to show how they will work towards retaining a diverse student body and promote inclusion and equity across our department and the institution.
