The Department of Pathology and Cellular Biology is unique in bringing together fundamental researchers in cell biology and cancer with clinical pathologists who practice in hospitals. The Department is the site of world-class research in fields such as signaling in cancer cells, the cell biology of Parkinson’s disease and the structural biology of cancer-related proteins.
The candidate will be integrated into IRIC as a Principal Investigator, joining a dynamic and collegial environment, benefiting from state-of-the-art infrastructure, and collaborating with a team of 27 Principal Investigators and 450 members, to contribute to advancing knowledge on cancer and the development of innovative therapies.
Your day-to-day impact
Through your teaching and your research activities, you will play a pivotal role in fostering excellence within your faculty. Furthermore, you will enhance the prominence of your area of expertise and actively participate in the daily activities of our renowned university. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Actively teach at all academic levels within the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology, as well as in other programs within the Faculty;
- Supervise students at all three academic levels and postdoctoral trainees, contributing to their academic and scientific training;
- Develop a high-level research program in cancer biology, which may include, but is not limited to, the following areas of interest: cancer cell biology, solid tumors and metastases, tumor microenvironment, metabolic reprogramming, genomics and epigenetics, and/or human tumor modeling;
- Establish an innovative research program with global recognition, aiming to ensure long-term financial autonomy;
- Promote local and international academic collaborations to maximize the impact and reach of your discoveries;
- Contribute to the efficient functioning of the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology and the IRIC by participating in various committees and working groups, thereby strengthening institutional life;
- Participate in advancing the discipline through conferences, scientific publications, and the organization of high-profile scientific events.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Hold a PhD in a related field and demonstrate substantial experience and productivity in a relevant field;
- Present an outstanding record of publications;
- Demonstrate potential to develop internal, national, and international collaborations;
- Show aptitude for delivering high-quality university-level teaching;
- Demonstrate the potential to supervise graduate students;
- Adequate proficiency in the French language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required upon assuming the position in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. A French language learning assistance program is offered to all professors who wish to acquire French language skills or enhance their communication abilities.
