Humanities and Social Sciences - Professor, 3-year term (Social Innovation and Critical Theories)

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Saint Paul University invites applications for a three-year term faculty position at the Élisabeth Bruyère School of Social Innovation.

Saint Paul University is a catholic, bilingual institution of higher learning federated with the University of Ottawa. The university seeks to promote excellence in teaching, research and professional training at the international, national and local levels.

Requirements:

  • PhD in social sciences or any other field of specialization related to social innovation and critical theories or approaches;
  • Expertise in one of the following fields: critical theory, Marxism, anarchism, political ecology, feminism, queer theory, anti-racism, decoloniality, etc.
  • Knowledge of the literature on critical or emancipatory social innovation. The successful candidate will teach the core doctoral seminar on theories and concepts of social innovation;
  • Practical, professional or activist experience in an associative or community environment;
  • Ability to support collective student projects, community initiatives and various social projects;
  • Strong publication record, including non-academic publications;
  • Demonstrated teaching experience or potential and ability to develop new courses;
  • Bilingualism: advanced written and oral comprehension of French and English. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both languages.

Nature of position:

  • Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Support students in starting up social innovation projects;
  • Supervise master's students;
  • Serve on various school, faculty and university committees, including participation in faculty council meetings;
  • Take a leading role in the development of training and research within our institution;
  • Pursue a program of research and publications.

Compensation:

  • Salary and promotion according to experience and collective agreement;
  • Rank will be determined according to experience, collective agreement and current policies.
