Communications - Assistant Professor

The Faculty of Human Sciences at Saint-Paul University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the School of Social Communications.

Saint Paul University is a Catholic, bilingual institution of higher learning federated with the University of Ottawa. The university seeks to promote excellence in teaching, research and professional development at the international, national and local levels. The School of Social Communications offers generalist programs in communications. It serves an undergraduate clientele. It operates on a fully bilingual basis.

Requirements

  • A doctorate in communications or a related field in the humanities;
  • Specialization in postcolonial or decolonial approaches;
  • Have research work in related fields, including - but not limited to - discourse analysis, traditional and new media, political communication, history of social communications, environmental communication or cultural mediation;
  • Teaching experience;
  • Have a strong publication record and have developed a research program;
  • Bilingualism: ability to collaborate and teach in French and English.

Assets

  • Practical communications experience;
  • Experience in university business administration;
  • Knowledge of the practices of public institutions.

Nature of position

  • Teach at the undergraduate level in both official languages;
  • Contribute to the development of research programs and publications;
  • Participate in the development of undergraduate and graduate teaching programs;
  • Participate in various committees within the School of Social Communications, the Faculty of Humanities and the University.

Compensation

  • Salary and promotion according to experience and collective agreement;
  • Rank will be determined according to experience, collective agreement and current policies.

START DATE: July 1, 2025
