Computer Science - Assistant/Associate Professor (Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence)

The School of Engineering and Computer Science in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Architecture at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science, at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have expertise in Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related areas. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset: Cloud Computing, Data Science, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering, Full Stack Software Development, Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Systems, or Quantum Computing. The preferred start date is July 1, 2027.

Applicants must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment. In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful candidate will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community.

The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Evidence of good research and scholarship potential.
• Experience in teaching at both the undergraduate and/or graduate levels coupled
• Evidence of the ability to teach one or more of the following topics would be an asset:
  • Undergraduate level: object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, C++, Python), Linux/UNIX systems, data structures and algorithms, computer networks, operating systems, database systems, software engineering, computer architecture and assembly language, and cyber security.
  • Graduate level: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Generative AI and Large Language Models, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, Internet of Things (IoT), Quantum Computing, and Advanced Software Engineering.
• Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant academic and work environment.
• Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English. An active knowledge of both official languages (functional bilingualism) would be considered an asset.
